What does DSD stand for?

DSD stands for Direct Store Delivery. It’s when products are delivered straight to retail stores instead of going through a central distribution layer.

In a typical DSD model, the driver does more than just drop off goods. They often check shelf stock, take new orders, handle returns, and collect payments during the same visit. This makes it faster and more responsive, especially for high-turnover products like food and beverages.

Because so much happens in one stop, DSD businesses need systems that can keep up in real time. That’s where route accounting and mobile tools become essential.
